Be Kind

Posted on August 17, 2018 by Village Vidiot

Silly and, in parts, very funny comedy with Jack Black and Mos Def about a Passaic, NJ video store. In depressed Passaic, Black becomes magnetized and clears all the images in the store’s video. Def, the clerk, and he set out to satisfy customers by making their own versions of the films (Sweding them). Danny Glover as the store owner. Silly subplot about Fats Waller. Evil movie studios, of course, make an appearance. At its best during the filming of the knockoffs where it’s laugh-out-loud funny. Most of the actors are local folks and they’re really good. With Mia Farrow as a depressed customer. It was great to laugh a lot with B and b last night even though the little one (now almost 15) hadn’t seen most of the films being goofed on. We slept better than we had for a while. A message in that?
