Chicago

“Chicago,” October 11, 2003 (2002), video.    We’re the last to see this very well done movie version of the Broadway musical. Fine songs and basically good work. Richard Geer is a very pleasant surprise as Billy the shyster lawyer, Renee Zellwenger pleases greatly as Roxie the spurned lover/chorine with ambitions and the dumb husband, Amos, played well if not to Joel Grey perfection by John Riley. Catherine Zeta Jones is only ok, and Queen Latifah just can’t quite do the job The dancing is fine, the music is swell, and numbers such as. “Razzle Dazzle” and the piece that recounts what all the women did to their partners are excellent. See it.
