Elf

Posted on November 23, 2003May 24, 2022 by Village Vidiot

“Elf,” November 25, 2003, theater.  So sue us, we all liked this silly Will Farrell vehicle about a human raised by the elves at the North Pole. It’s fun to watch, and dumb in the extreme. Good for all ages. Interestingly, the only ones who didn’t work in the movie (for me at least) were James Caan as Farrell’s biological father and Ed Asner as a really crabby Santa Clause. Mary Steenburgen is fun as Caan’s wife, Bob Newheart is fine, if a little flat, as his elfin father, and the rest of this film works well if you can totally accept sloppy happy endings. We had to sit through 20 minutes of horrible commercials and bad trailers before the film and that makes me really loath to going to that megaplex again if we can avoid it
