I don’t normally like horror films but this one’s an exception. Written and directed by Jordan Peele, it has enough humor to make this work. Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and Rose (Allison Williams) are going to her house for a weekend to meet her parents. He’s a Black photographer and she’s a white woman. What does she do?. Maybe I missed that. Anyway, the folks, a psychiatrist and a neurosurgeon (always a bad sign) don’t know he’s Black. All seems to go well for a while but then, well, things spiral out of control very quickly as the nightmarish reality of the visit becomes known. It’s very scary, very good, thought provoking and funny. Real parts of the horror that is racism in America. Both the stereotyping and the theft. Excellent work from Stephen Root as a blind photo gallery owner and LilRel Howery as Chris’s friend. You’ve got to love a movie that makes a “TS fucking A” agent a hero of the piece. I’m certainly looking forward to more offerings from Peele, whose edgy humor I’ve long appreciated
