Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio is a thief specializing in penetrating people’s dreams to steal secrets. He is offered a chance to finally reunite with his family after many years, he takes it and plots a special caper, that of implanting a thought in a ‘mark’s’ mind. The dreams go into other dreams as they layer down to a manipulated bedrock. With a good supporting cast including Ellen Page (Juno), Ken Watanabe (anything with an English speaking Japanese guy in it, eg, Last Samurai), Marion Cottilard (La Vie En Rose) and many more. A funny piece of intertextual humor with the use of the Edith Piaf song. I think DiCaprio overacts, the dialogue is overblown, and the special effects are really good. Given the amazing amount of violence and gun play (and very little blood and gore), Bronwen surprisingly liked this one more than I did although I did enjoy the film for what it was.
