Weiner

Posted on August 17, 2018 by Village Vidiot

Anthony Weiner’s fall from lion of the liberal political establishment to punchline is chronicled in this painful look at his disastrous 2013 run for mayor of New York. Sexting scandals that reflect personal need for adulation , connection and intimacy with women, [psycho-historians will have a field day with this] lead to his resignation from Congress, devastation to his marriage with Clinton advisor/assistant Huma Abiden (separated August 2016), an astounding campaign collapse, and 15 minutes of fame for one particularly disturbing young woman, a Vegas card dealer named Sydney Leathers, who brings him down the second time. The film is a true Greek (or in this case, Jewish) tragedy in which a man of great promise, purpose, ethics, and ideas is laid low by his fatal flaw in a world where there is no longer a private self. . Is it “little Anthony” doing the thinking, or is there really a much bigger hole inside “big Anthony?”. I suspect the latter. See this one
