No Country for Old Men

B4 is at a party so we went to the movies and what a movie!. This is a violent, shocking, brilliant film from the Coen Brothers about a drug deal gone wrong in 1980, and the simple Texas hunter (Josh Brolin) who finds the millions left over from the deal. To say the least, it has a major effect on many lives. He is soon being hunted by Javier Bardem in a superb portrayal of a sociopathic killer for the mob who goes out on his own, and by Tommy Lee Jones as the aging sheriff. Kelly McDonald as Brolin’s wife and Woody Harrelson as another bounty hunter are excellent. All the acting is first rate, the photography is excellent, and the script is a stellar. Its ending seems an homage to avant-garde 70s film in that it’s just cold. Lots of weird little anachronisms. May win the Oscar for best film and I think Bardem has got to at least receive a nomination. See this one!
