Moneyball

I enjoyed this version of the Michael Lewis look at Billy Beane and his efforts to transform baseball with cybermetrics. Brad Pitt as Beane works as does Seymour Philip Hoffman as Art Howe (the A’s old-school manager). I found Jonah Hill as Peter Brand (a tribute to his costar in Get Him to the Greek?), the young geek analyst who helps Beane change the game a bit too deer in the headlights-ie for my taste. He modeled on a guy with a different last name: why change it?. He probably wouldn’t allow his real name to be used. Anyway, a good story of a small market team doing well with little. Ironically, of course, all the teams (Sox first and foremost) use the system now and so the small market teams are back where they were Bronwen was bored by it and went to bed even with Pitt in it Not a great film but interesting. I don’t get why it got an Oscar nomination
