It’s Complicated

Posted on August 17, 2018 by Village Vidiot

I was underwhelmed by this mediocre Merryl Streep/Alex Baldwin/Steve Martin vehicle about Jane Adler (Streep) who surreptitiously reunites with her lawyer ex (Baldwin) at her son’s graduation and after. She’s been alone and crafted a rich and amazing life on her own. Into her life comes Steve Martin’s Adam, the architect redoing her amazing California house. Baldwin gets stupid/jealous. I don’t care about these people (except for Martin) one bit. I’m just bored with the lives of the upper middle class in their perfect worlds. A few very funny scenes involving Martin and Streep getting high for the first time in years and the (soon-to-be?) son in law, Harley (John Kaminski in a very funny turn) who tries to keep the Streep/Baldwin affair under wraps. A largely irrelevant movie. Baldwin is wonderfully and usefully out of shape. Martin plays the smart chick
