Saw this interesting, sweet and fundamentally manic fantasy about two smart but unhappy and socially inept 13-yos, one a “Khaki Scout” the other the daughter of unhappily married lawyers (Francis McDormand and Bill Murray) who find one another and run away. Scoutmaster Eduard Norton sets out to find them as does Sherriff Bruce Willis (having an affair with McDormand), the storm approaches, and they all must find safety. The town, scouts, and family are thrown into both chaos and resolution of sorts. It is a sweet and kind mixup, a broad comedy of the impossible, very much in keeping with Anderson’s preference for limited dialogue and his fondness for Bill Murray (a regular). B liked it more than I did, but she really loved it, as did so many others. My take was more cautious. I found it a bit too precious and forced but still enjoyed it
