Deadpool

“Deadpool,” January 17 2017 (2016), DVD.  Sci-fi super-anti-hero fantasy comedy stuff with lots of violence and action, this is about the birth of “Deadpool” as immortal grotesquely mutated superhero killer with a sense of dry humor and sharp swords. Leslie Uggams (yes, that Leslie Uggams) as his blind, coke-head, wackjob roommate stole my heart in this one. Otherwise, the humor began to fall flat for me about half-way through and the characters just stopped developing. I know most people liked this. I’m just not hip enough. The special effects did little for me and, the hideous Deadpool just isn’t that grotesque. I know folks who conquer bigger visual disfigurement, but then they’re neither super heroes or killers. Not the worst, but I don’t quite get the buzz.
