“Ant-Man,” August 14, 2018 (2015), TV. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a thief working with a crew of bumblers led by Luis (the very talented Michael Peña) becomes Ant-Man in another fine Marvel Comic feature. It’s got good tone, humor, and action without the stupidity of magic or religion. It’s the science that does it. He’s recruited by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and, grudgingly, his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly) – both very good — to become the Ant-Man via a suit that allows him to shrink but become incredibly strong. The point here is to have him perform a job (with his ant army) that will save the world by keeping evil scientis-corporate thug Darren Cross from selling the shrinking technology to the new generation of villainous Hydra. Along the way he tries to remain a good dad to his young daughter and a friend to his ex-wife and her new husband, a cop (well, it is set in San Francisco.) It’s well done and lots of fun. It would have been better seen in the theaters, but I was very much in an anti-comic phase when it came out in 2015.
