Flash of Genius

Posted on April 3, 2009August 23, 2020 by Village Vidiot

“Flash of Genius,” 3 April 2009 (2008), DVD.  We all (B, b, and I) liked this painful but very interesting study of Robert Kearns (Greg Kinnear), the engineer who successfully developed the intermittent wiper system only to have it stolen by Ford and used by every other manufacturer. He is obsessive and not an especially lovable individual despite being in the right. That’s actually what makes this movie good. Unlike most films of this sort it’s a warts and all film. We know who wins before it happens, but that’s ok. Getting there is not fun or pretty but it is necessary. It’s also important to let people know the cost they may pay to win and the necessity of fighting. Now, if he’d been able to organize with others…
