La Vie en Rose

Posted on August 17, 2008July 18, 2020 by Village Vidiot

“La Vie en Rose,” August 17, 2008 (2007), DVD.    We enjoyed this rather traditional biopic about Edith Piaf starring Marion Cotillard in a marvelous performance. Excellent side work by many including Gerard Depardieu, who has truly learned how to subordinate his ego to his craft. Cotillard ages in breathtaking and horrifying manner as she experiences the crippling effects of arthritis and many other ailments. Quite remarkable. I do wish they’d paid some attention to her work smuggling prisoners out of POW camps during WWII and her work supporting the Resistance. A great sad lady. A good film
