The Clock

Posted on August 1, 2011August 19, 2018 by Village Vidiot

[4:40 p.m.-6:15 p.m.], 1 August 2012, Lincoln Center. We saw part of this conceptual art piece (who has seen the whole thing?) that examines the role of noted time (via the clock) in film. It is not simply the passage of time, but the use of the clock and the time itself. Shown in real time (it runs from midnight to midnight), this is a remarkable set of clips and scenes from hundreds of films. It shows the power of time, the changing nature of life in connection to the clock. At 5 and again at 6, whole groups of folks in the audience got up and left even as offices shut on the screen. Fascinating. We let the movie tell us when it was 6:15 so the that we could leave and head uptown for dinner with our friends Howie and Batya. Quite fascinating art. See this one. We heard MOMA in NYC was buying a copy. Will it become the new Rocky Horror and a cash cow?
