Crazy, Stupid, Love

Posted on June 22, 2012September 14, 2020 by Village Vidiot

“Crazy, Stupid, Love,” 22 June 2012 (2011), DVD.  Watched while recovering from knee surgery. Really hot outside. Innocuous romantic comedy with Steve Carrell as Cal Weaver, married to Emily (Julianne Moore) who informs him over dinner that she wants a divorce and then informs him she’s had an affair. He moves out and is taught by Jacob (Ryan Gosling) how to be a “man” again, that is, to pick up gorgeous girls in bars. The babysitter has a crush on Cal, Cal’s son has a crush on the sitter. Nice work by Marissa Tomei as their son’s teacher. OK to watch in a sentimental and simple way. Meaning is, of course, derived from a deep and committed relationship. See it if you’ve got nothing better to do, but ok.
