Unsophisticated documentary narrated by Gene Simmons of Kiss looking at the story behind the Incredible Bongo Band’s song “Apache” role in the evolution and development of scratch, sampling, and hip-hop. Follows the many players and producers (Michael Viner in particular) involved in this record’s story and its use by artists in the South Bronx and Harlem including Afrika Bombaataa, Grandmaster Flash, and many others. It looks at the players, including Mike Deasy, Jim Gordon, King Ericson and others. I learned more than I cared to about the band and the players and less than I wanted about hip hop.
