It is also so terra-centric as to be ridiculous. Ok. Despite that, I really enjoyed this playful Marvel Comic frolic that follows Peter Quill (Chris Pratt,) Gamora. (Zoe Saldano), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (an homage to Rocky the Flying Squirrel? Voiced by Bradley Cooper),. and Baby Goot (voiced by Vin Diesel) as they fight monsters, rob, and go on adventures that always involve personal discovery. Quill meets his father, Ego (Kurt Russell) while Rocket finds he’s not alone in his isolation and rage through the unlikely personage of Yondu (Michael Rooker) who had earlier helped raise Quill to be an intergalactic thief. Sylverster Stallone makes a brief cameo. It’s a good and surprisingly affecting movie for somethings so trivial. There is honor among thieves, and this harkens back to old style pirate movies.
