My first trip to a movie theater in months. I really enjoyed this futuristic but utterly accessible, sly, thought provoking excursion from Spike Jonze. It follows a lonely, professional personal letter-writer, Theodore (a fine performance from Joaquin Phoenix) as he seeks to move on from his failed marriage. He establishes a unique connection with his new operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johanson—separately?. In real time?) Wonderful support, especially from Amy Adams. It’s the future, but it may not be too far down the road. The computer scientist I went with says “maybe thirty years”. Something to ‘look forward to?’. A very good film despite the odd inconsistency or two.
