Something’s Gotta Give

Posted on August 17, 2018 by Village Vidiot

Bronwen and I both just tolerated this light romantic comedy with so many untenable elements in it. Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton are both ok, although I am just sick of movies about rich people in the theater/movie/music/advertising world. Don’t these folks know any normal people?. A few very funny scenes, a nude scene by Diane (damn, she’s gorgeous) and Jack (getting hefty, well, so am I), a lovely late night dinner of pancakes, a real conversation on the beach, and a confrontation on the street. But her obsession and ‘love’ for him after 5 days makes no sense. Similarly, Keannu Reeves willingness to let her go after ‘seeing’ that she still loves Jack after investing a year is just impossible to buy. Oh well, not the worst way to spend a couple of hours, but I do want more, even from a romantic comedy. Perhaps that’s totally unrealistic and romantic of me
